Youth Ministry is an ever-changing area of church life. Young people often come
through the church in waves, this means that often the groups that come have
different needs than the group that preceded it. Therefore a method needs to be
in place where aims are known so that group formats can change but still meet
the aims that the church wishes the youth ministry to meet.

Dear all, This letter is to invite you to come and hear
Meg Guillebaud speak on Tuesday July 8th at 7.30pm in
St. Helen's Church Ipswich.
Meg is a CMS Missionary who has been involved in Rwanda for
most of her life. She is a real authority both on Rwandan history, and on the
situation facing Rwandans today. She is also a good friend to Rwanda
Direct and was such a help to us when we visited the Country earlier
this year.
I do hope you will take this opportunity to come and hear her. Hoping to see you
there. David Meikle |

ABSEIL FOR INSPIRE
Judy Ludlow and Hilary Smith will
be abseiling down the maternity block on the afternoon of Sunday
13th July 2008 to raise money for Inspire Counselling and Training.
Inspire is a registered charity based at the Fletcher Centre in Ipswich.
Christians run the centre with professionally trained counsellors who
give their time voluntarily. Inspire is open to anyone who wish to use
their services.
As well as counselling, Inspire offer a variety of training courses in
pastoral care, counselling and related subjects.
With money raised, Inspire hope to make improvements to the client
facilities - in particular the waiting room and one or two of the
counselling rooms. If you wish to sponsor either of us, we will both be
available after the service. Thank you! Hilary and Judy. |

LOUISE WRIGHT
AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
OF THE CONGO
|

A vast and war torn country, the D.R.C. has had its infra-structure ruined and
it's people impoverished by internal fighting. But Louise Wright, the Church
Mission Society mission partner with whom St. Helen’s Church is linked, has been working there since 1989. |
Her current home is at Kalima, a town 200 miles west
of the Rwandan border in the Anglican diocese of Kindu. Louise is a teacher and
she works under the authority of the local bishop.
She assists in training the leaders of the churches in the diocese. Most of these are laity not
clergy, and Louise concentrates on training them to understand and use the New
Testament. Apparently they find the Old Testament easier, yet for their Christian living
and the teaching of |
their congregations they need to know the New Testament better, and
to understand the Old in the light of the New. Louise is teaching a small group,
but their potential influence is great.
In February 2006 Louise visited her link churches, St. Helen’s Church,
Sproughton Parish Church and Burstall Parish Church. She also met two home
groups of St. Luke’s Church, Cliff Lane, who combined for one meeting.
These gave her the opportunity to meet |
supporters from these four churches and also from
the Ipswich C.M.S Association. Her talks and the DVD which she brought with her, gave a clear impression of the problems of living in a subsistence economy, and of the joys of the closely knit
nature of African society.
They also showed the great value of the gospel to the Congolese in giving them
hope for the future, a basis for building up their nation and help from abroad. |
