I would on behalf of the
Waterfront Community Group like to give a huge
“Thank You” to everyone who was involved in the first
Waterfront Community Day on Saturday which attracted nearly
1000 visitors with many being from the Waterfront. The day
was organised by the Waterfront Community Group which has
the Strapline ”Working towards a vibrant and thriving
waterfront community”.
The event was organised to: Make contacts
in the community - Begin to engage - Identify concerns -
Provide a welcome and get together for residents and
business - Provide opportunities for organisations in the
community to promote themselves
The day was a tremendous success and the
amount of networking going on between residents was amazing
and achievements were made in all areas. Many people
completed questionnaires to get their views and if you are a
Waterfront Resident or Business and haven’t completed one,
we are very much interested in your views and would like to
offer you the opportunity to do so by
DOWNLOADING HERE
or alternatively
contacting me. We will be passing on the information once we
have had the opportunity to collate it all. . .

WATERFRONT
COMMUNITY DAY
If you live or work on the Waterfront in Ipswich you are urged
to go to the Old Custom House on Saturday 19th April.
One Ipswich and Waterfront Churches have organised an event to
show local residents and businesses that we can all work toward
building a vibrant and thriving community. The day will provide
an opportunity to get together, meet one another and to promote
community groups.
There will be up to 30 stands from a wide range of local
businesses, organisations and community groups.
There will be fun for all the family - the event is on a pirate
theme - with face painting, crafts, sideshows and free
refreshments courtesy of Suffolk New College. Plus, there are
some mouth-watering recipes being showcased by: Loch Fyne,
Bistro at the Quay, Colours Continental Café and Coffee Link.
A prize draw is another highlight, with prizes including a box
at a Regent Theatre show, a trip on the Orwell Lady, Sunday
roast at the Steamboat Tavern and free tickets to Red Rose
Chain’s “Romeo & Juliet”.
The event has been made possible by Ipswich Borough Council,
Waterfront Churches, One-Ipswich, Suffolk County Council, ABP,
BT and Ip-City Network.
It starts at noon and goes on until 5pm.

Let's make the Waterfront a real
community. Evening Star Ipswich
IPSWICH'S
burgeoning Waterfront has created gated developments with no
sense of community and few facilities for people to enjoy. That was the
view today of one of the organisers of a community day being
organised to try to bring the residents of the plush waters-edge
developments together.

The Old Custom House is one of Ipswich Wet Dock's finest buildings.
Built in 1844 by JM Clark, this classical building is now fully
restored. Interesting features include a striking red and cream brick
design and a raised four-column portico displaying the Ipswich Coat of
Arms. One of many buildings in the area to have been given a new lease
of life, The Old Custom House has a Conference Centre on the Ground
Floor. The building is Grade II listed. |
