About the Ipswich Waterfront Churches and what we believe

The Church of England parishes of  St Helen's, Holy Trinity and St Luke's cover the south-east of Ipswich town centre.
This includes a large part of the Waterfront, Suffolk New College, University Campus Suffolk and the "Rivers" estate.
Check out the map on the "downloads" page for more details.

When the 3 parishes joined together in 1999 we adopted the informal name "Waterfront Churches" which we have now established.
There are other Waterfront Churches (of differing denominations) who covering different parts of the Waterfront area
and we have included links to them under the "other churches" button as we do all work together
 - particularly around Ipswich Waterfront Community through the Ipswich Waterfront Action.

The three churches of St Helen, Holy Trinity and St Luke offer a range of Sunday and mid-week activities and services.
In addition, many community groups use the church buildings during the week for community activities.
All of these Churches are fitted with an induction loop system and have disabled access and facilities

.  Sunday worship styles vary from modern worship led by music groups to more traditional services with organ and choir.
We have thriving Toddler Groups and a Youth Group.

A number of study and home groups meet around the parishes during the week at different times and there are opportunities during
the year to discover more about the Christian faith through events such a Alpha.

What We Believe

We believe that God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit are three Persons present in one God. This is what we mean by the Trinity

We believe in a God who is creator God, who caused all that we see to come into being.

We believe in a redeeming God who sent his son Jesus Christ to heal the broken relationship between man
and God caused by human disobedience.

Jesus suffered death on the cross for us – In his death he defeated the power of sin to separate us from God.
He then defeated death when He rose again on the third day. He did this not just for himself,
but for everyone who believes in Him today.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit who makes Jesus’ presence real with us now and seeks
to make us more like Christ.

Our eternal salvation is not by our own works. It is entirely God's gift to us. God loves us so much.
Our response to such love is worship and obedience and all in the love of Christ.

One thing you can be sure of is that going to church doesn't make you a Christian. Christians aren't perfect.
We are all on a journey trying, in God’s strength to model our lives more after the example of Jesus Christ.

When we join together on Sundays we do so to express our love for God, each other and the world in worship, praise and prayer. We seek to learn from the bible and to apply its lessons to our lives. We acknowledge our shortcomings and seek God blessing as we break open his world and share in Holy Communion.

Why not join us and begin a journey of discovery for yourself?
